My dog ate a cupcake wrapper last night, but she was so scared she wouldn't eat her food, which is something we hadn't seen before. Is this normal?

The behavior seems normal to us, but our vet says I have to see the results of the blood work. What should I expect if that doesn't happen? She says she thinks it may be something she is just seeing as a lot of dogs are affected and it could be just coincidence. What do you think?

Sounds like a very scary time for your dog and she is scared and has some serious health issues. Your vet is right on track for making sure that happens.

If you don't see the results then that means the results are not available yet. That does not mean she has not been treated for the issues that cause the signs. It might be good to bring this up again to the vet, you are in for a very long term process.

You are right she is very scared. I had to call the vet as soon as it happened, I didn't want to put her through it. I don't know what is going on. I do know she has a long list of health problems that are causing her to have some anxiety issues. My husband and I are new to the breed, so the vet has been great for us. I'm not really sure what to expect though. I thought that maybe she had been sick before but this seems worse.

Sounds like she has a long list of problems, and she's scared about that. If it happens again, get to the vet, because if it does it can happen again. And if it does, it probably won't be a single time.

You're going to need to keep her on a restricted diet, and if it happens again, take her to the vet.

If your vet didn't run the tests, or she doesn't know what results to expect, you're not going to get a definitive answer.

I am sorry that you're going through this and that your dog has such a long list of problems. Hopefully she is doing well, and you have some good vets working with you.
